EMMA & ADRIAN

Love & Gatherings was exceptional for us. We are based in California and had to plan a wedding in Ireland in record time (5 months). Without Kate, it wouldn't have been possible. She took ownership of the entire process, managed our needs and nuances with grace, kept all our vendors in line and produced one of the most stunning and enjoyable weekends for us.

Emma & Adrian were a destination wedding couple, San Francisco-based — he Irish, she American — who landed in my inbox five months before their date. We met in a Clones pub, toured the grounds, had suppliers locked within the fortnight - in many ways, a short timeline can be a gift!

The brief was exacting. Emma, in her own professional role, is no stranger to organising a super-luxe event & is the daughter of a California catering family — no pressure, Kate — so she wanted flawlessly tasteful styling, locally-sourced food and pin-perfect service… but never a whisper of pretension. Adrian was clear: the Irish contingent would suffer no stuffy nonsense.

  • A 3pm ceremony required some priest-hunting, but we got there — & the rest of the day thanked us. Post-I Do, the couple swept off in a vintage Rolls Royce while Chris Copeland worked his magic across the grounds.

The Colonnade at Hilton Park is a country house wedding dream — light-filled, warm wood and full of possibility. Patsie's scented hoppy foliage installation soared from the lofty ceiling; table florals crept in from the meadow, as Emma had wished. I love to juxtapose ornate tableware with wild blooms — those rose pink taper candles the unexpected pop that kept it contemporary.

The food was delicious, the speeches emotional — Adrian's kind mention of us had lumps in throats — and Daft Pop, helmed by his brother, kept every soul on the floor. Guitars and rebel sing-songs closed the night.

So many guests said they'd never experienced anything like it: such relaxed warmth and meticulousness in equal measure. That's the thing about Ireland — when it's right, it's really right.
